Second Injury Fund Medical Questionnaire Now Available in Spanish
LWCC now offers a Spanish language version of the Second Injury Fund medical questionnaire available on its lwcc.com website. The downloadable document is the first in a series of Spanish language resources to be offered to employers and employees.
The Second Injury Fund is a special fund developed and administered by the state that helps pay workers' compensation costs when a preexisting injury combines with a subsequent injury to produce disability greater than that caused by the second injury alone. The medical history questionnaire is completed and signed by an employee after acceptance of a job offer. Funded by insurers, not employers, the Second Injury Fund reimburses part of your claims costs and can help reduce your experience modifier (E-mod) leading to lower workers' compensation premiums.
"As the population of non-English speaking Hispanic workers grows in Louisiana, so does employers' demand for Spanish translations of workers' compensation related documents and resources," said John Liles, LWCC's loss prevention specialist. "We will continue to work with policyholders to identify and develop Spanish language materials to meet their needs."
