Stephen W. Cavanaugh Scholarship Fund
Former LWCC President and CEO Steve Cavanaugh, diagnosed in September 2006 with Stage IV pancreatic cancer, died November 15, 2006, at age 55. In honor of his leadership and lasting contributions to the insurance industry in Louisiana, LWCC has established the Stephen W. Cavanaugh Scholarship Fund.
This important fund, administered by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, provides scholarships to deserving Louisiana students who are majoring in an insurance-related field at a Louisiana university, college, or community college. There is a great need in our state's insurance industry for newly trained insurance talent, and this scholarship fund will provide the mechanism to attract and finance the education of young people seeking to enter the field.
Donations should be made payable to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, with a notation that they are designated for the Stephen W. Cavanaugh Scholarship Fund, and sent to:
Baton Rouge Area Foundation 402 N. Fourth Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802
The Baton Rouge Area Foundation is an IRC Section 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax and to which contributions are tax deductible. Companies or individuals donating $5,000 or more will be recognized as "founders" in the Scholarship Fund's published and online materials and on a commemorative plaque to be produced.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to honor Steve Cavanaugh and support the education of Louisiana's future insurance industry leaders.
