Service Project Delivers Bounty of Food Donations Across 34 Parishes

WRITTEN BY

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Oct. 12, 2023) - LWCC, the state’s largest workers’ comp insurance provider, is celebrating the completion of its third annual Louisiana Loyal Service Project. In September, 175 individuals made up of LWCC employees and agent partners volunteered more than 700 hours of their time to serve local food banks in Acadiana, greater Baton Rouge, and metro New Orleans. LWCC championed those efforts further by hosting in-office food drives and donating $5,000 each to Second Harvest Food Banks of Acadiana and metro New Orleans, as well as the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Collectively, the Louisiana Loyal Service Project will provide 72,223 meals to Louisiana families faced with food insecurity.

“The success of our 2023 Louisiana Loyal Service Project illustrates the power of collaboration between like-minded businesses looking to make a positive impact on our local communities,” said Seth Irby, LWCC’s Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer. “At LWCC, we believe small actions we take together add up to transformational change. The outstanding work of our dedicated volunteers and partners embodies that belief and is an example of putting our purpose of helping Louisiana thrive into action.”

Beginning in 2020 as an internal initiative to bring employees together to capitalize on the company’s Volunteer Time Off incentive, LWCC’s Louisiana Loyal Service project has evolved over time. This year, LWCC expanded the program beyond the Baton Rouge area to partner with regional food banks in Acadiana and metro New Orleans. Hunger is an acute issue in the state disproportionately affecting children and seniors. One in seven people in Louisiana struggle with food insecurity.

Through the Louisiana Loyal Service Project’s in-person volunteer efforts, in-office food drives, and direct donations, Second Harvest and the Greater Baton Rouge Food bank are able to support more than 800 partner organizations in providing needed meals in 34 parishes across South Louisiana.
