There’s an extra sparkle of holiday spirit this time of year, grounded in traditions that bring us together. LWCC’s annual Holiday Giving Contest is one such tradition, which invites our agent partners to join us in providing a collective gift of $20,000 to Louisiana-based nonprofits working to celebrate and elevate those most in need in our communities.
Following agent nominations and a public vote, the three organizations to receive funding in 2022 were the Educational & Treatment Council, Inc., Maddie’s Footprints, and the Youth Service Bureau of St. Tammany.
Maddie's Footprints, an organization dedicated to supporting families grappling with the pain of miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, was the standout choice in last year’s contest, receiving over half of the 1,300 votes cast. This strong support led to a donation of $11,200, pivotal in delivering essential services to grieving families throughout Louisiana.
“There are no words to express what this means to our organization,” shares Lori McGrew, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Maddie’s Footprints. “We are so incredibly grateful for this gift. It is amazing!”
Nurturing Hope and Healing for Louisiana Families
Established in 2010 to honor the memory of Madeline Noelle McGrew, who was stillborn, Maddie's Footprints compassionately assists families with funeral and cremation expenses, provides professional grief counseling, and fosters a nurturing community of support. Extending its heartfelt services to 19 parishes, the organization ensures that families across Louisiana do not face grief in isolation.
The LWCC Holiday Giving Contest has profoundly impacted Maddie's Footprints, enabling the organization to expand its range of services. The donation has made it possible to provide cremation services to 20 families, significantly reducing their financial and emotional burden. Additionally, the contest raised awareness of Maddie's Footprints' vital mission, inspiring more people to get involved and support grieving families across Louisiana.
Maddie's Footprints plays an important role in Louisiana, a state with high infant mortality rates. Their comprehensive approach combines emotional support with educational resources tailored to the specific needs of each family. This assistance has become an essential part of the healing process for many families across the state.
Through our support of Maddie's Footprints, LWCC not only honors the memory of Madeline Noelle McGrew, but also reinforces the resilience and compassion of the Louisiana community. This initiative is a powerful reminder that together, small actions we take can lead to a transformational impact.
