LWCC Speaker Series Explores How Positioning Can Help Louisiana Capitalize on Historic Economic Momentum
Baton Rouge, La. (October 21, 2026) – As historic investment and new opportunities reshape Louisiana’s economy, LWCC brought together renowned positioning strategist, entrepreneur, and author Andy Cunningham and Louisiana leaders to explore how businesses can position themselves for growth while helping tell a stronger story about the state.
The conversation was part of LWCC’s annual Speaker Series at the Foster Learning Center, where Cunningham presented The Power of Positioning, drawing on decades of experience helping some of the world’s most innovative companies define what makes them different and turn those distinctions into opportunity.
Cunningham, who helped Steve Jobs launch the Macintosh and has advised companies including Pixar and Cisco, challenged business leaders to think beyond traditional marketing and consider positioning as the foundation for how an organization is understood by its customers, employees, and communities.
“Strong positioning starts with understanding what makes you different, who you are best positioned to serve, and why people should believe in the value you provide,” Cunningham said. “For Louisiana, that same thinking can help us better communicate the opportunity, innovation, and momentum already taking shape across the state.”

Cunningham has a longstanding connection to LWCC and Louisiana. She previously worked with the organization to help shape Louisiana Loyal, a movement created to celebrate and elevate the company’s home state.
“When I worked with LWCC to create Louisiana Loyal, it was with the idea that it would be something Louisianans could rally around,” Cunningham said. “It was built on optimism, pride, and the belief that elevating this state takes intention and action, not just hope. That’s never mattered more than it does right now.”
Positioning Louisiana for What’s Next
Following Cunningham’s keynote, Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois and LWCC Chief Investment Officer Amanda Didier joined her for Positioning Applied: Louisiana’s Moment, a panel discussion moderated by LWCC President and CEO Kristin W. Wall.

The discussion connected Cunningham’s principles to the economic opportunities emerging across Louisiana and the role businesses and leaders can play in building on that momentum.
With nearly $260 billion in announced capital investment in Louisiana since 2024, the panel explored how the state can translate investment into lasting opportunity by preparing businesses and communities for growth while strengthening how Louisiana communicates its advantages to the rest of the country.
“Louisiana is experiencing a remarkable moment, but attracting investment is only part of the opportunity,” Wall said. “How we respond to that momentum, how our businesses prepare for it, and how we tell Louisiana’s story will help determine what comes next. Bringing leaders together for conversations like this is part of LWCC’s commitment to helping Louisiana thrive.”
Throughout the discussion, panelists emphasized that Louisiana’s story is ultimately shaped by the businesses, workers, communities, and leaders creating progress across the state. Attendees were encouraged to help amplify that progress by sharing the people, investments, and organizations contributing to Louisiana’s growth.
Ideas That Create Impact
The Speaker Series also continued LWCC’s longstanding support of the Louisiana Bar Foundation’s Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program, which provides higher education scholarships to dependent children of Louisiana workers who were killed or permanently and totally disabled as the result of a workplace accident.

Together with its agent and business partners, LWCC raised $53,500 through this year’s Speaker Series, helping the Kids’ Chance program surpass $1 million in scholarships awarded. Since LWCC began supporting the program through its events, $792,000 has been raised to help Louisiana families.
The annual LWCC Speaker Series brings together business and community leaders to exchange ideas, encourage innovation, and explore opportunities to help Louisiana thrive.
