Government Like No Other
Unlike many local governments, the Bossier Parish Police Jury serves as both the legislative and executive authority for the parish. Guided by 12 elected jurors and supported by a robust administrative team, BPPJ combines decision-making and implementation under one governing body. This unique structure allows the parish to respond efficiently to community needs, deliver essential services, and turn local priorities into meaningful action.
“Identifying the needs of our citizens really starts with our jurors,” says Dr. Kenneth Ward, Administrator of the Bossier Parish Police Jury. “Because they remain actively engaged in the communities they serve, our jurors bring valuable insight and feedback that helps us understand local priorities, address emerging concerns, and make informed decisions on behalf of the people of Bossier Parish.”

The Backbone of Daily Life
Roads, bridges, water, sewer, drainage, and public facilities are the systems most people never think about until they fail. BPPJ works to ensure those systems remain reliable, resilient, and ready to support a growing region. By viewing infrastructure as a long-term investment, BPPJ helps ensure communities have the systems they need to thrive today and adapt for tomorrow.
“Our citizens are the ones who pay the bills, and these are their tax dollars at work,” says Dr. Ward. “We take that responsibility seriously. That means listening to their concerns, understanding their priorities, and making thoughtful investments that improve infrastructure, strengthen services, and enhance quality of life across the parish.”

Safer, Stronger Neighborhoods
Beyond infrastructure and construction projects, the Bossier Parish Police Jury works every day to help create communities where residents feel safe and supported. From addressing unsafe structures and enforcing property standards to investing in public safety infrastructure and emergency preparedness, BPPJ takes a proactive approach to protecting the parish. These efforts help strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and ensure communities remain resilient in the face of future challenges.

A Vision for Tomorrow
By supporting economic development, modernizing critical infrastructure, and creating the conditions for businesses and families to thrive, BPPJ is helping shape a parish that attracts investment, opportunity, and talent. The goal is not simply to meet today's needs, but to build a stronger future, one where businesses can grow, families can put down roots, and future generations choose to call Bossier Parish home.
“I grew up in Bossier Parish,” shares Dr. Ward. “Whenever I'm out representing the parish, I'm proud of how far we've come and excited about where we're headed. I believe Bossier Parish is positioned to be a leader in Louisiana and a driving force for economic growth across the region.”

A Partnership Built to Last
Supporting a community starts with supporting the people who serve it. BPPJ has trusted LWCC to help protect its workforce since 2002. More than an insurance carrier, LWCC serves as a partner in employee safety and well-being, offering proactive safety support, responsive claims management, and coverage that provides peace of mind. Together, the two organizations help ensure the people who serve Bossier Parish can continue doing the work that keeps their community strong.
