LWCC Encourages Louisiana Businesses to Prepare Early this Hurricane Season
Baton Rouge, Louisiana (June 08, 2026) – Hurricane season is underway, and LWCC is encouraging Louisiana businesses to prepare now to help protect employees, property, and critical business operations before severe weather threatens the state.
Regardless of seasonal forecasts, a single storm can have lasting consequences. Early planning helps businesses strengthen their readiness, reduce potential disruptions, and better support employees and customers.
As Louisiana's largest workers' compensation carrier, LWCC is committed to helping employers prepare for potential weather emergencies before they occur.
"Hurricane preparedness starts long before a storm enters the Gulf," said Damian Simoneaux, LWCC Safety Services Manager. "Taking time now to prepare can help businesses respond more effectively, recover more quickly, and protect what matters most."
A strong preparedness plan focuses on protecting the three Ps: People, Property, and Papers.
People
Ensure employees understand emergency procedures, evacuation plans, communication protocols, and safety expectations before severe weather develops.
Property
Protect facilities, equipment, vehicles, and critical infrastructure by securing assets and addressing potential vulnerabilities.
Papers
Safeguard important business records, insurance information, payroll documentation, and other critical files by maintaining secure and accessible backups.
LWCC's Hurricane Preparedness Guide provides practical recommendations to help businesses maintain continuity before, during, and after severe weather events.
