Louisiana Loyal is more than just a tagline. It’s a mantra and a movement that drives LWCC’s mission to better Louisiana one business and one worker at a time. These two words define our way of working and our why for existing.
We cannot execute on this work alone, however, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce Champions of Louisiana, a celebration of the people, businesses, and organizations equally committed to bettering our beloved state. Champions serve out of a love for Louisiana, its people, and its future, either by contributing to the local economy, or by supporting health and wellness, safety, education, preservation, and other initiatives that contribute to transformational change.
We’ll be sharing stories of our Champions on a monthly basis. To get things started, however, here’s a brief introduction to our first three.
- Galen Iverstine, owner and founder of Iverstine Farms Butcher, brings sustainable, locally raised meats directly to Louisiana consumers. This Champion’s enterprise enables consumers to connect to local farms and expands opportunities for farmers who cultivate and support Louisiana’s land.
- Trey Godfrey is the executive director of 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, a nonprofit organization that encourages African American men to step forward and assume roles of community leadership, responsibility, and guidance. The organization serves as a catalyst to empower the men to reach their full potential.
- Simone Maloz is the executive director of Restore or Retreat, Inc., a nonprofit coastal advocacy group working to identify and expedite the implementation of aggressive, large-scale restoration projects. She is an advocate for the protection of the rapidly disappearing Louisiana coast.
LWCC’s mission to help Louisiana thrive by elevating our state one business and one worker at a time.
