LWCC was created to save and stabilize the Louisiana workers’ comp market. After nearly 30 years, the cost of workers’ comp is not only stable but decreasing, Louisiana enjoys the lowest workplace incident rate of any state, and we have been able to return over $900 million to our policyholders in dividends. The story is a good one but success was far from guaranteed. The innovative actions of the 1991 state legislature to create a wholly private, mutual insurance company to assume and stabilize the market was an experiment. There were significant and credible voices doubting the survivability of LWCC. But far beyond failing, LWCC has thrived and done much more for its policyholders than anyone could have dreamed in 1991.
The reason we have succeeded is that we are motivated by a simple but profound common value.

As a business, we serve only Louisiana businesses and workers. We don’t operate outside the borders of our state. As a company of people, Louisiana is our home. We are motivated by our love for this state.
Every company needs a purpose. A reason for being that is greater than any one individual. Our purpose is helping Louisiana thrive. This home of ours, a home with history older than the United States, is why we work and why we strive always to do the right thing. We consider it a privilege to work everyday to better Louisiana, one business and one worker at a time. This is why Louisiana Loyal is so much more than a tagline. In two words it defines our way of working and our why for existing.
Unfortunately, we also know that Louisiana is more often loved than it is admired. We have problems to solve. Louisiana Loyal is more than celebrating the way and why of what we do, it is also helping to define our actions. We are launching a foundation, the LWCC Foundation, that is dedicated to making Louisiana home to the safest and healthiest workforce in America. We are implementing school safety programs and giving safety grants to our policyholders to improve the safety of their workplaces. We are volunteering in our community. And we are so proud to be doing so much more to become a true Champion of Louisiana.
We are sharing our Louisiana Loyal journey to inspire other Louisiana businesses, organizations, and citizens to do what they can with what they have to elevate our state. On our Louisiana Loyal blog we will feature and celebrate anyone who shows what it means to be Louisiana Loyal.
