2022 was a year of action and opportunity. Over the year, LWCC was able to expand on existing initiatives and implement new ones. Some of our loftiest dreams to push forward the Louisiana Loyal movement and celebrate and elevate Louisiana came to fruition this year, while other efforts hit record-breaking milestones.
LEED Certification
In 2022, LWCC proudly received the designation of Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building. Louisiana Loyal encompasses all aspects of our state, including the land itself. Environmental sustainability is more important than ever, and with the unique, state-of-the-art design of LWCC’s corporate office, we are hoping to inspire other Louisiana businesses to develop work environments that positively impact both the employees in them and the environment around them.
Speaker Series Events
After the success of our inaugural Speaker Series event featuring Billy Beane in 2021, LWCC expanded the series to include two inspirational and motivating speakers in 2022. Daymond John, entrepreneur and star of TV’s “Shark Tank,” took the stage at the Foster Learning Center to present his thoughts on purpose-driven business in May. To wrap up the year in December, Daniel Pink, one of the world’s leading business thinkers and New York Times bestselling author, offered his insights on how we can navigate what comes next in the rapidly changing business world.
Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program
The Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program provides funds for the education of children who have lost a parent due to a catastrophic work injury or accident. For several years, LWCC has supported this program with fundraising efforts, first in the form of a golf tournament and now via Speaker Series events. This year, we presented Kids’ Chance with our largest donation to date of $65,000.
Ward’s 50
For the 17th time in the company’s history, LWCC was named to the Ward’s 50 group of top-performing insurance companies nationally. Ward, the leading provider of benchmarking and best practices studies for the insurance industry, recognized LWCC for achieving superior performance and passing all safety and consistency screens over a five-year analyzed period from 2017 through 2021.
2021 Dividend
Since 2003, LWCC’s dividend program has shared profits with our policyholders for an incredible total of $1.13 billion. In 2022, dividend payouts totaling $102 million were distributed to approximately 20,000 Louisiana businesses for the prior year. These dollars will directly impact over 167,000 workers. To date, it is estimated that the dividend program has supported 17,840 jobs across the state.
Louisiana Loyal Service Project
The Louisiana Loyal Service Project reached new heights in 2022 with LWCC’s largest collaborative effort to date. The project ran for two weeks and was propelled by not only LWCC employees but many agent partners as well. With the goal to help address the epidemic of food insecurity in Louisiana, 2022’s Service Project supported The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. In total, 158 in-person volunteers prepared 28,070 pounds of food, equating to 23,392 meals, with thousands more collected across various food drives.
Safety Grant Program
In 2022, 21 Louisiana businesses received safety grants of up to $2,500 for the express purpose of improving safety measures either through a safety project or purchase of specialized safety equipment. LWCC further supports grant recipients with site visits by members of our Safety Services team to make recommendations that will help maximize the use of funding.
As we reflect back on 2022, we observe a year that, in partnership with our many stakeholders, we helped fulfill our purpose and drove the Louisiana Loyal movement forward. Now, our sights are set on 2023 and how we can continue to support our policyholders with best-in-class workers’ comp coverage, care for our team, and make positive impacts across all of Louisiana. If 2022 was a year for bigger and better, 2023 will be a year for the biggest and best!
