Holiday Giving 2024: Turning Generosity into Change
LWCC completed its fourth annual Holiday Giving Contest in 2024, teaming with agent partners to contribute $20,000 to nonprofits dedicated to strengthening Louisiana communities.

Event Recap
The 2024 Holiday Giving Contest brought together LWCC and our agent partners with communities across Louisiana to support nonprofits that celebrate and elevate the state. Agents nominated 25 Louisiana-based organizations, which the LWCC Agency Council narrowed to three finalists before a public vote. More than 2,500 votes determined how LWCC’s $20,000 gift was shared among the finalists: Empower 225, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, and Providence House.
Unwrapping Impact
Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency

The Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) honors the lifesaving gifts of organ and tissue donors and provides comfort and support to the families who make those gifts possible.
Support from the 2024 Holiday Giving Contest is helping LOPA create meaningful tributes that celebrate and remember donors. Heartbeat recordings, remembrance flags, ornaments, and engraved leaves for the Tree of Life offer families lasting keepsakes and a powerful reminder of the lives their loved ones saved. By uplifting donor families and sharing their stories, LOPA ensures that every donor’s legacy endures and inspires others to give the gift of life.
Empower225

Empower 225 guides Baton Rouge youth who are aging out of foster care or facing challenging circumstances, offering mentorship, life skills training, and creative development that build confidence and independence.
Funding from the 2024 Holiday Giving Contest allowed the organization to strengthen its Dreamville program and expand its reach. Weekly Life Skills sessions give participants practical tools for independent living and personal growth, while summer programming provides structure and stability when it is needed most. The gift also supported experiences such as Reality Town 2025, a financial literacy and career planning simulation, and a retreat at the Lion King Center that encouraged teamwork, reflection, and connection.
Providence House

Providence House provides shelter and comprehensive support services to families experiencing homelessness in Northwest Louisiana, helping parents and children build stable, independent futures.
With the funds donated through the 2024 Holiday Giving Contest, Providence House met urgent needs that arose after the loss of a key grant. The funds provided helped cover essentials such as laundry expenses, prescription medications, school uniforms, duplicate birth certificates, and legal identification cards. These resources are vital for families working toward stability and employment.

Impact by the numbers.
Nonprofit organizations are essential to Louisiana’s well-being, meeting critical needs in healthcare, education, housing, and community development while providing support where other resources may be limited. By investing in these organizations, LWCC helps strengthen the foundation for a healthier, more resilient state. Supporting nonprofits means empowering the people and programs that create opportunity, improve quality of life, and ensure that Louisiana continues to thrive for generations to come.
