LiveWell: Prioritizing Employee Health and Wellness

WRITTEN BY

GOALS OF THIS GUIDE

At LWCC, we believe that personal wellness is critical – to a healthy workplace and, more importantly, healthy employees. Healthy and productive teams drive workplace safety. Therefore, we are committed to cultivating an environment where work and wellness come together. That’s why we’re giving our employees access to tools, training, and resources to optimize their physical fitness, nutrition, mental wellness, financial literacy, and more. We call it LiveWell.

LiveWell is a corporate wellness program created by LWCC, for our employees. It’s a commitment to give healthy living and healthy working a bigger role in our safety culture. It’s our pledge to get closer to the heart of what we do: providing safety, security, and stability to Louisiana’s workforce. Our goal is that LiveWell sets the example for other companies to follow.

THE FOUR PILLARS OF LIVEWELL

LiveWell is an important commitment to our employees to nurture their safety, health, and wellness in categories that go beyond their desk duties. To achieve comprehensive health and wellness for employees, LiveWell is guided by four pillars:

Physical Wellness

There’s no doubt that a healthy body is better for safety on a jobsite, in an office, and at home. But that doesn’t mean you have to live at the gym. No matter what stage of physical fitness or ability, the physical wellness pillar of LiveWell is designed to meet employees where they are. By providing well-equipped, state-of-the-art exercise facilities and offering training services from the Cooper Wellness Strategies team, our employees will have all the resources at their disposal to live a physically fit life.

Nutrition

Staying sharp, staying focused, and maintaining a good level of energy throughout the workday is influenced by what you feed your body. Nutrition helps to keep the body and mind going. That’s why it’s one of the four pillars of LiveWell. Employees are provided with healthy food options including breakfast and lunch provided by Baton Rouge General, while LiveWell programming educates on healthy eating habits. Overall, better nutritional education will help develop new, positive relationships with food — a result that will keep employees feeling energized and active all day.

Mental Wellness

While the body is fueled and kept fit by pillars one and two, the third pillar, mental wellness, adds another important layer to employee well-being. With a focus on the mental wellness of our employees, the tasks and responsibilities of work life and home life are balanced and properly supported. Through LiveWell, we make sure that mental health is a high priority and make sure that support systems are available for all members of the LWCC family.

Financial Wellness

Wellness isn’t reserved for the gym or yoga studio. It covers nearly all areas of your life; including finances. In the same way that proper form during exercise protects you from injury, proper training and education around financial matters protects you from financial setbacks and reduces the potential for added stress. The Financial Wellness component of LiveWell is designed to provide clarity in the face of financial concerns and provides employees with access to resources, trainings, and best practices that are facilitated by financial professionals.

OPTIMIZING EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND SAFETY

Between in-person education sessions, healthy eating options, and engaging challenges and contests, LiveWell is an opportunity to apply wellness information and resources in order to optimize each individual's health and wellness. At the end of the day we’re committed to the safety, health, and wellness of the workforce in Louisiana; starting with our own employees.

For LWCC, wellness is a way of life. It’s a way to work. It’s a way to improve safety for all and, in the process, it will improve lives. Our belief is that health and safety go hand in hand. Likewise, LiveWell is our way of joining our employees on their health and wellness journeys.
